Julia,

This is the most fun! When my dear friend Theresa suggested I have a photo contest, I had no idea what a great idea it really was. I thought it would be an interesting challenge. How would I design the web page? How would people vote? How would I get people to participate? As it turns out there was no shortage of participants; and when you see the entries, you’ll see what I mean. The entries range from full time professional photographers to very young teenagers in some cases you can’t tell one from the other. Some of the pictures are just plain fun and others are breathtaking. Photography is art and everyone has different taste and different interests. Every one of these pictures is fabulous, every one of them made me smile.

Where am I going with this? The Big Thank You!!! I want to thank each and every contestant and all the people that take there time to check out the contest and vote. Thanks to everyone for their continued support for and making my journey such a pleasure! ---Jules

It’s time to cast your vote!!! In order to keep everything as simple as possible, I have set up the contest as follows: the pictures are set up in no particular order, the photographers names are not involved in anyway. Look at the pictures, press the “Vote” button, write the name of the picture in the subject line and hit send. Winners will be determined my most votes received. If you vote more than once, I will be able to tell by your return e-mail address. No cheating allowed! LOL!!!

The voting will be open for one month, and the winner will be announced in the May 15th Newsletter.

Last month I talked about my wonderful experience taking photos from the top of the Frost Bank building. This month it was the Capitol 10K that dragged me out of my studio. There are many wonderful events to photograph in Austin and although I specialize in family photography, I’m often amazed at what I see and capture on the other end of my lens. Being at the Capital 10K is a mouth-dropping experience all on its own. The 13,600 participants took my breath away, the costumes made me smile, and the athletes impressed me to near tears. Watching these people cross the finish line and knowing all the training and discipline it took to get them there was quite inspiring.

In addition, you never know whom you may get a picture of ~ Mayor Will Wynn finished 717th overall with a pace time of a 7:49 minute. Congratulations Mayor, great race!

Got a teenager? This beautiful young girl is Mattie and we spent a wonderful afternoon together exploring photography, and what makes every person beautiful. Mattie even took a great picture of me that you can see on my Bio Page. Help your teenager learning how to be better photographer, learn to be more relaxed in front of a camera or get great pictures of themselves and their friends.

I am excited and proud to announce my pictures are on display at Kerbey Lane South for the entire month of April. Now you can enjoy the best pancakes in town while looking at fabulous photographs of families, children and animals. Kerbey Lane is located at 2700 South Lamar Blvd, just south of Oltorf Blvd.

I know this fabulous woman named Paula Dreyer. Just like me, she is a small business owner. Paula and I belong to the WING Networking Group (www.winggroupnetwork.com) and have chosen each other as “Buddies”. Being Paula’s buddy gives me the opportunity to tell everyone I know how great she is and what her services can do for you.

Paula’s company is Organizing A to Z. She’s the one you call when you want to simplify your life and have more time, money and energy. She helps you gain control of your surroundings and find things faster. Her focus is on using what you already have and making it more efficient. She will also take your unwanted items to be recycled or donated to charitable organizations. Anything is possible with a friend there to help you. Paula is a great friend.
More wool comes from the state of Texas than any other state in the United States.

Photography is fun, no matter which side of the camera you're on!

This months grammar helper was Gail Alexander. Gail has been a trusted friend of mine for several years now. I love and appreciate her with all my heart!

Warmest regards,

Julia Heart
